The Heritage Information Trust has sanctioned the high class decorating service offered by G B Decorating in this specialised field.  With over a third of the United Kingdoms housing being of period stock (Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian and Art Decor eras), and with the current popularity of TV programmes such as Grand Designs, this will be of great interest to homeowners, country estates, museums, hotels, restaurants, public inns, building contractors and architects.

To obtain this status a rigorous and lengthy vetting procedure was entered into, which upon satisfactory completion to the Trusts liking acknowledges the understanding required to carry out this delicate and prestigious work. The Heritage Information Trust work is supported by English Heritage, The National Trust, The Crown Estate, Council for the Care of Churches and The Department of Trade and Industry. The Heritage Information Trust holds a register of vetted contractors, where our details can be viewed at www.heritageinformation.org.uk (under search, enter-George Bogojevic and in Category select - Specialist)  or contact The Heritage Information Trust, Suite 601, Albany House, 324-26 Regent Street, London,W1B 3BL, telephone 020 76378833.

Traditional decorating not only incorporates materials appropriate to the time, but also some specialist finishing crafts and styles uncommon to modern decorating. These can be:

bulletGraining (paint effect imitating natural wood)
bulletGlazing (colour wiping to highlight certain features)
bulletGliding (applying thin sheets of gold to a desired surface)

Typical period materials are lime wash, true linseed oil gloss, casein emulsion, lincrusta and hand printed wall papers to name a few.

Traditional techniques and materials are regularly employed during the restoration and re-decoration of prestigious historical and listed buildings, capturing their timeless designs. We have experienced an interesting and varied workload to date. Having previously undertaken the pleasure of working at the museums of Temple Newsam and Nostell Priory, the listed West Riding inn on the platform of Dewsbury railway station, along with contracts at private dwellings in and around the regions of Yorkshire and London. By the use of such materials and craftsmanship, we endeavour to preserve and recreate timeless finishes and designs of days gone by while reducing the irreversible damage to these fine buildings, helping to maintain the rich and colourful heritage of this land.
